How to develop critical thinking skills through language teaching engagingly

A lesson is broken into many parts: Part 1: Desired Outcome through the following process. Students will develop Oral Communication, Critical Enquiry, listening skill, forming opinions, committing to a stand, vocabulary building Step 1: Put up a controversial or attention topic 'We are better off without handphones' or 'Being rich is always better than being poor' or any silly topic 'Being a hammer is better than a nail'. ( or learners design a topic) Step 2: Allow students to ask as many questions on the topic as possible. Using 5WH method. Write on board or post-it tag to ensure 100% participation and interaction. Step 3: Facilitate classification of ideas. Write out subject group once a relationship is identified in associating all the questions. Form a main argument as an illustration.
